The Velorution

Very close to Douarnenez, if you cycle 10 kilometres along the ocean towards Cap Sizun, you will come across a brand new cycle route: Le Youtar. It used to be a railway line, which was also converted into a "Voie verte" and only recently inaugurated. This railway line, called "Le Youtar" because of the roar of the locomotive, accelerated the economic development of the port of Audierne and tourism in Cap-Sizun. It connects Douarnenez with Audierne and runs along the Goyen river in its final section. For decades, the trains had disappeared. But now, thanks to a gentle revolution called "la vélorution", the line has found a second life. The Youtar between Audierne and the beach of Pors Peron (12 km) in Beuzec is now a cycle path that can also be used by walkers. From Douarnenez, you can take a leisurely ride to the beautiful Pors Peron beach and on to Pont Croix, a delightful medieval town! No matter where you are in France, there are thousands of ways to experience an unforgettable tour: it can be a day trip, a two-three days tour or a longer one. In my podcast about my tour along the Loire, I tell you about one of my first tours "Un voyage inoubliable"!
